What is it?
Profhilo® is a breakthrough treatment, the first of its kind.
It uses patented NAHYCO® technology to deliver a unique, injectable hyaluronic acid gel which improves skin hydration, firmness and overall quality by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
How does it work?
Profhilo® works by spreading the hyaluronic acid – and its benefits – evenly and equally; this differs from dermal fillers which focus on, and add volume to, specific areas only. It’s also able to attract water into the skin’s deeper layers because its stimulating effect on the production of collagen and elastin is longer lasting. This explains Profhilo®’s two phases: initially, its high concentration of hyaluronic acid deeply hydrates the skin, smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles, delivering a glow. But secondly, over three to six months, actual dermal remodelling happens, meaning thicker, healthier skin, a more hydrated appearance and a longer term reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
What happens during treatment?
Profhilo® is administered quickly and easily; it’s a gel prepared in a small syringe which is injected in five places on each side of the face and, typically, the treatment takes no more than five minutes.
What happens after the treatment?
After effects from Profhilo® are minimal; as you’d expect, small bumps where we’ve injected appear for 6-12 hours but settle down quickly (a little more slowly in any areas where the skin might be thinner). As you probably know, any injections may leave short-term bruising and / or swelling, but you can reduce the risk by avoiding Omega 3 fatty acid supplements and alcohol for 48 hours beforehand (and we recommend giving make-up a miss for the first 24 hours afterwards too).
